Flight Lieutenant Shivangi Singh is from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. She was a part of the second batch of women fighter pilots inducted into the IAF in 2017. She flew the MiG-21 Bison prior to flying the Rafale and was posted at a forward base in Rajasthan, where she flew alongside Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman.
In 2020, she was the first woman pilot to operate the Rafale, India’s most sophisticated multi-role combat aircraft, after undergoing intense conversion training. She is now a member of the IAF’s Golden Arrows squadron in Ambala, Punjab.

Recent Activities
Flight Lieutenant Singh has participated in major military exercises, including the multinational Exercise Orion in France, where she was the representative of the IAF. She has also flown missions in high-altitude areas such as Ladakh, adding to India’s defense readiness.
Clarification on Misidentification
Note that there are two officers with the same names: Lieutenant Shivangi Singh of the Indian Navy and Flight Lieutenant Shivangi Singh of the Indian Air Force. They are different individuals serving in the different forces of the Indian Armed Forces.
If you have heard reports of Flight Lieutenant Shivangi Singh being held in a Pakistani prison, kindly note that there is no basis in fact for such reports. She remains serving with honor in the Indian Air Force.
